Theological Reflections
The Diploma in Mission component of TIM provides the opportunity for integrated learning. Some participants already have a degree in Ministry or significant leadership experience in Mission and Ministry. The approach of TIM is to emphasize using skills for contextual theology. Similar to Wesleyans using a quadrilateral for theological discernment, we consider Bible, Tradition, Reason and Experience.
Each of the TIMs is encouraged to think about how scripture and the teachings of the Church are related to life. We ask questions about how things work in Fiji, Tuvalu, Rotuma, Jamaica, South Africa, Bangladesh, India, Singapore, Taiwan, Samoa, French-occupied Polynesia, Australia, Madagascar and Myanmar. In the conversations and discoveries, we start to tease out, not just what is important in our home contexts, but also what is important for all of us.
